Julia DiBiase
Julia began working part-time at St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in September of 2021 as an intern, after graduating from Wheaton College with a degree in Christian Formation & Ministry and a minor in Psychology. During her four years at Wheaton, Julia’s heart for justice and contemplation were fostered. One of the most formative teachings she encountered at Wheaton came from Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hahn, via her favorite professor: “There are two ways to wash the dishes. The first is to wash the dishes in order to have clean dishes, and the second is to wash the dishes to wash the dishes.”
Although Julia never imagined that her first job after college would mostly consist of doing laundry, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, and washing dishes, she was grateful to be able to spend her days exploring what it looked like “to wash the dishes to wash the dishes” in mind, body, and spirit.
Julia went on full-time staff after finishing her internship and is now primarily responsible for running the bookstore and managing communications for the Center. Julia lives in Durham, NC and enjoys spending her free time enjoying food with friends, being outdoors, doing pottery, and reading.
